Heavy vehicles have driven on the grass verge adjoining the open culvert in front of Brookside Cottage causing the bank to collapse. This has been reported on numerous occasions and in September 2024 it was shown to an OCC employee who said that it wasn't that bad but would be fixed. It is now a lot worse with residents having to pull rocks that used to form the structure of the culvert out of the water. Traffic speeds down this road despite a 20 mph speed limit (there are no repeater signs between Gold Street and the national speed limit sign going out of the village). There are no pavements along this road and pedestrians use this verge to step out of the way of traffic. It is collapsing and therefore unsafe.
