Misuse of disabled parking bay and unauthorised obstruction by resident

I am writing to report the ongoing misuse of a designated disabled parking bay located outside 75 Dale street, where I have been a resident for a good portion of my life.

1. Harassment of Other Drivers: The resident who lives at the property linked to this bay is actively preventing other vehicles from parking legally. Despite the bay being a public parking space designated for Blue Badge holders, the resident placed a note on my windscreen instructing me not to park there. Furthermore, they have placed a traffic cone in the bay to reserve it, which is an unauthorised obstruction of the public highway.

2. Potential Misuse of Blue Badge: I have observed on numerous occasions that the individual using the vehicle associated with this bay appears to be freely mobile and does not display any obvious signs of a disability that would require a Blue Badge. This suggests the bay may be being used by someone other than the genuine badge holder, or the badge itself is being misused.

While disabled bays are provided as a courtesy to ensure accessibility, their abuse is unacceptable. The resident’s actions in putting out cones and notes constitute a misuse of a public amenity. I request that the council investigate both the obstruction of the highway with the cone and the potential fraudulent use of the Blue Badge, and that action is taken to ensure the bay is available for genuine disabled drivers who need it.
