Pavement tarmacc replaced by gravel

Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Jan Fennellyu at 09:14, Thursday 5 March 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9049608.

There have been 2 new houses built on Ferndale Street. The footpath at the font of them has been fenced off for the last year or so while they were being built. I assumed that once they were finished that the contractors would relay the tarmac and make good the footpath. However I noticed this week that the tarmac has been replaced by gravel and a row of paving slabs laid in front of the doors, see photos. Gravel has also been used on the section of ‘footpath’ which will be used as the drive enabling access to parking at the rear of the houses. This is not at all serviceable and will soon become displaced as vehicles drive over it. The new ‘footpath’ also is not fit for purpose. It has been made to look like private frontage for the new houses which surely it should not be ?
