Overall condition of the street
Reported via mobile anonymously at 19:08, Sunday 1 March 2026
Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9023930.
I have been at my property for 10 years now and the over all condition of the street has declined rapidly, the street lighting columns are all well passed their life expectancy with some of them having the access doors either taped or zip tied on and what looks like faults in the area as there are lanterns linked with flex, the condition of the road surface is horrendous with pot holes and sunken iron works, in the 10 years I’ve been here I’ve yet to see the gully’s be cleaned which would suggest they aren’t being inspected regularly? there is the odd street sweeper that comes round that cleans in around parked cars while leaving piles of muck on the road surface behind, the street is littered with rubbish that falls off the back often the bin lorries and the bin men don’t seem to bothered in picking up what they drop.

GCC only fixed one pot on the road, there are various major potholes on Thornton Street, some of th other pot holes are right next to the one they filled, struggling to understand the street closure they had to fix one hole and not the rest whilst the road was shut, the worst holes are long at the bus stops, very deep and getting wider, right out side of the council yard on Thornton Street.

Pot holes are now worse than ever, the whole are is now effected by potholes, I don’t think that you can drive down any street in the area without having to dodge a pothole, as I said the worst one are at the end of Thornton Street outside the council yard at the bus stops, I think my car now needs to go into the garage due to hitting a pothole.
