Hedge growing out onto pavement space

Reported via desktop in the Hedges category anonymously at 11:46, Friday 20 February 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8962069.

The hedge (which is trimmed) is growing out a distance from the boundary wall and is dramatically reducing the width of the pavement. Because it is at head height it is potentially dangerous.

Council ref: ENQ261086402

Updated by Oxfordshire County Council at 11:46, Friday 20 February 2026

  • Thank you for your report. Landowners and occupiers are legally obligated to properly maintain vegetation on their property that is next to the public highway. If the vegetation affects the safety of highway users, it becomes their responsibility. However, in this instance, since the highway was not obstructed, there may not be sufficient cause to take further action at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation during statutory inspections.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
