Cannot park my car due to neighbour
Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 21:19, Tue 13 September 2016
Sent to Calderdale Borough Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 895488.
I am having a serious problem with my neighbor parking there car and blocking me off. They have a drive enough room to park 2 cars, but they park 1 car in the drive and put 1 on the road side. They also have a 3.5 ton van which they park across the street. I have a disabled child who has an accessible bus which comes round and picks and drops him off for school. The accessible bus have to stop in middle of the road for all this and then on top of that they block me off so I can't reverse nor move car foward. I can't get out or in as I am blocked off, so I have told them in the last year or so about 100+ times to park there car either in the drive or move it atleast a few yards down, so I can get in and out. But with no luck I have had to take this further know with the pictures clearly showing that they park bumper to bumper with my car. Sometimes they will park both cars 1 in front and 1 right behind mine so I am totally blocked off. I really don't know what to do because I have had threats and also the guy has come right to my door step once and told me to f/off as he does not care. What a cruel world when someone has a disabled child and the neighbours don't bother about how difficult life is for these people. Is this the world we live in. Pls someone needs to help...

Really sorry to hear about this. It sounds to me as if you have been very reasonable and have gathered evidence of what has been happening to you. If your drive is accessed by crossing a dropped kerb, you have a right of way across the pavement, and it is illegal (and unlawful) for anyone to obstruct your right of way. You also say that you have been threatened by this other person, which is also illegal (and unlawful). If there has been any racist element in those threats then that too is illegal. I suggest you have a word with the Police about this situation as I am not sure it is within the council's remit. Do you have a solicitor you can speak to about it? If not, check your insurance policies, they often offer a free legal advice service (by phone). You may find you can obtain help there. Be sure to video any exchanges with this neighbour for evidence, should you need it later on. No-one should have to put up with this kind of thing in what claims to be a civilised country. I wish you well in your endeavours. L
