Critical damage to road surface

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:09, Tuesday 17 February 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8937256.

This road damage has been reported before, but no action has been taken yet. The road surface has been deteriorating for months, but over the last two weeks it has become really dangerous.

Road surface is severely damaged over the full length of the road section and about half the width of the lane. For many vehicles, avoiding the damaged surface requires swerving out of the lane. Not avoiding it will lead to damage, unless driving unusually slowly.

It would be good if temporary road signs could be put up ASAP to warn unsuspecting road users of the dangerous state of the road (perhaps an advisory 5mph speed limit...)

  • I hit it and bottomed out. Another car had a blowout and pulled over with hazard lights flashing. This is a serious road hazard and should be attended to pronto.

  • The potholes are across most of the middle lane, approaching the roundabout from the east. Impossible to avoid.
