The road is being used by an individual to store scrap vehicles.
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction to Highway category anonymously at 23:16, Monday 16 February 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8935575.
The end of Tubbenden Lane South near to the A21 roundabout is being used to store scrap vehicles. The individual concerned is regularly moving vehicles in and out of the road, sometimes late at night. There is noise and pollution from engines that are left running for long periods of time and regular oil spills on the road. This part of the public road was a quiet area but is now dirty, noisy and congested as it is being used as a storage area by a scrap car business. Can you confirm if what is happening here is against council regulations such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990? Can someone from the council please come and assess this situation? Thank you.

We have investigated this report and found the vehicle to be taxed; a taxed vehicle is a strong indicator of an interested party and therefore the vehicle is not considered to be abandoned at this time and no further action will be taken. You can check the tax status of a vehicle online via: https://www.gov.uk/ check-vehicle-tax. Insurance or MOT issues should be directed to the Police as Bromley do not have the statutory powers to deal with this type of offence.

I'm guessing this is an automated service because my query has not been answered. It was not about tax, it was about a business using a public road to store scrap vehicles. We pay council tax and should be able to have our complaints heard. Those responsible don't even live on the road affected. They feel it is ok to make our road look like a scrap yard. Can a human please provide details on taking this higher in the council please.

As the issue concerns rubbish on an area which is not public highway or is regarding pest control or other public health issue, this report has been passed to Environmental Health to investigate and is now closed on FixMyStreet. For information, enforcement action against rubbish will be taken depending on the nature of the accumulation. Bromley Council only have powers to enforce the removal of rubbish which contains material that could attract pests or pose a risk to public health.
