Grass verge is being destroyed by cars and mud all iver pavements
Reported via Android in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 01:09, Tuesday 17 February 2026
Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8935002.
This is the 3rd time reported. People at number 7 are daily going across the pavement and the grass verges outside their home to park their car. That side doesn't have a dropped kerb, so they are using the pavement and going over grass verges that belong to the council and, in the process, leaving mud across the pavements and also damaging the pavements too. I use a walking stick and slipped on this mud. I went flying to the floor. I have bruised my left thigh. This is totally unacceptable now. You have chosen to ignore this situation. It's illegal to drive across pavements and damage grass verges. If the people are ignoring it, and if you have made them aware, then I suggest you should put in posts outside to stop them driving across that part. Otherwise, it may be someone else who falls down and does more damage to themselves, and you will have a claim case against you. TO NOTE: In Norwich, the grass verge and pavement are part of the public highway. Only the approved dropped kerb section can legally be used to access a driveway. Driving: Over a raised kerb Across a grass verge Across pavement that is not part of the authorised crossover …is an offence under the Highways Act 1980 and can also be classed as damage to the highway. Highways in Norwich are managed by Norfolk County Council, and they are responsible for enforcement and verge repairs.... So please will you enforce, if my hip is still painful tommorow I will have to take myself to AnE and get an xray, and the council maybe liable, as this has been reported before.

PLEASE HELP! If this was Lincolnshire, then Lincolnshire County Council would now be providing prompt, comprehensive, and publicly-available updates to this report, right here on the FixMyStreet website, for everybody to see. Unfortunately, Norfolk County Council don't do that (and they even try to discourage people from actually using FixMyStreet)! Please SIGN THE PETITITION, to urge Norfolk County Council to start collaborating with FixMyStreet, in the same way as Lincolnshire County Council is doing!
