Urgent – Widespread carriageway failure and unsafe road surface (St Katherine’s Street towards College Street, Northampton)

I am reporting the overall dangerous condition of St Katherine’s Street in Northampton, particularly when travelling towards College Street.
As soon as you enter this road there are multiple cracks, potholes, sunken sections, and severely uneven surfaces. The road condition progressively worsens along its length, with extensive deterioration creating a continuous unsafe carriageway rather than isolated potholes.
The uneven surface significantly affects vehicle braking stability and control, particularly in wet conditions. Drivers are forced to slow suddenly or steer around damaged sections, creating risk for surrounding traffic. The poor surface also presents a serious hazard to pedestrians, cyclists, scooter users, and other vulnerable road users who may lose balance due to the uneven roadway.
This is not minor wear and tear but widespread structural deterioration requiring full inspection and proper resurfacing rather than temporary patch repairs.
The damage appears to have worsened substantially following heavy contractor vehicle use associated with works on College Street. Large construction traffic has used this small local road which is not designed for heavy machinery, and the carriageway has deteriorated severely as a result. The contractor involved in those works was Zone Luxury Developments, and this impact should be investigated as part of the repair responsibility.
Given the extensive and worsening condition of the entire road, this now requires urgent assessment and a long-term repair plan to restore safe use for all road users.
Location: St Katherine’s Street, Northampton (towards College Street)
