Nuisance Persistent & Repeated Door to Door Charity Fundraising

Reported anonymously at 10:37, Sat 3 September 2016

Sent to Adur District Council and West Sussex County Council 3 minutes later

Friday 2nd September 2016 Battersea Dogs Home persistently and repeatedly knocking on doors in West Street - four times on the same day is a nuisance, intrusive and intimidating. Charity website says they first seek permission from local council. I wondered if they were bonafide and had permission as they seemed too persistent and we already have a local dog welfare charity. I would prefer that no charities get permission to bang on doors, especially as some of these could be scams.

  • Disappointinly I did receive a reply from council that its not something they could help with and suggested other public services to try (batted away). In my view if charities need to ask for prior council permission to target home owners with door to door collection - as the permission giver they do have some responsibility in these situations. I complained to the Charity Standards Board instead donors/ advice/ door-to-door-fundraising/
