  • Resident has called as although they can make a claim the issue is more in relation to having the tree looked at as if they make a claim and have repairs then the issue is still ongoing and the tree will cause further damage JW

  • Arrved csc email, 17/02 17:52 The roots of a tree immediately outside my house appears to be causing cracks up my driveway and into my house. I have raised this and explained to 'JW' on the phone twice that I do not wish to make a claim against the council because no amount of money will stop the roots from continuing to cause damage to my property. Instead someone from the council needs to access whether the damage is being caused by the tree and if so what should happen to the tree. It had been extremely disappointing and frustrating therefore to receive exactly the same email again stating 'no further action' from the council and asking me again to fill out a claim form. • What action (if any) would you like us to take? I would really appreciate someone calling me who can explain what the next steps can be and listen to what I am saying! • Have you already spoken to somebody in the Council about this matter? yes • If yes, and you know who you spoke to please provide details and dates: He seems to be signing his name as 'JW'. I spoke to him twice in the week beginning 9th February 2026. In both conversations I explained the same thing and said I was concerned I would continue to receive the same claim form but this would not solve the underlying problem. In both conversations I asked to speak to someone in the relevant department and both times he said that wouldn't be possible. .

  • Thank you for the comment, as per the guidance regarding insurance claims. You need to provide evidence that the tree is the issue, the counsel does not complete any works with out said evidence. If you believe a tree is damaging your property you will need to provide evidence through a claim via Sutton insurance.
