Highway Code 243

Parking on Main Road CF38 2EY The parking adjacent to the junction between the Texaco Garage and the Golden Grace takeaway on Main Road Llantwit Fardre CF38 2EY (marked with purple dot) has recently become very problematic and dangerous. Not only does it contravene Highway code 243 but it is causing the following issues: • Creates restricted access for emergency vehicles, especially as there is a Care home (yellow dot) accessed via that junction which Ambulances appear to use on a regular basis. • That Junction is also used to access the local school via a footpath at the end of the Care home road. There are lots of parents dropping off children in vehicles and parents and children crossing the main road at peak times. • I have personally received notes through my door complaining about the parking even though I park at the rear of my property. One was complaining that they could not get their pushchair passed and had to go onto the road to get around it as the vehicles are parked on the pavement. The footpath on the opposite side of the road finishes at the junction adjacent to the Golden Grace with vehicles parked fully on the next section of footpath. • It should be noted that the majority of the owners of the vehicles parked on the main road also have parking available at the rear of their properties. • The parking now stretches from the bend at the Texaco garage entrance/exit (Southwest of the junction) to the next bend to the Northeast, 50yards beyond the Golden Grace takeaway (full length marked in red up to existing double yellow at Northeast end) which means vehicles have no view from either bend to the next bend and whether they can proceed, often no gaps between parked vehicles so there is gridlock and a lot of beeping of horns which at times is unbearable. • Previously when HWC-243 was being observed, the junction had no parked vehicles, and there were double yellow lines beyond the bus stop (to the Northeast) creating gaps for vehicles to pass each other at convenient points. • The Bus stop is often blocked, and the busses have been stopping, straddling the central white line whilst passengers get on and off with no choice for the bus but to block the road. • HGV’s also require regular access to the Care home road leading to an industrial area and now have issues manoeuvring around parked cars, often having to stop traffic. • I have attached a few photos, I also have videos.
