Bushes in private front gardens badly obstructing path

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 20:57, Thu 1 September 2016

Sent to Tower Hamlets Borough Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 886036.

Along the footpath between Stewart Street and Tesco, which is not very wide, the bushes in several of the gardens bordering the path extend significantly over the garden boundary (devoted by a low wall) and badly obstruct passage on the footpath. There is barely enough space for one person to walk upright at some points.

This results in pedestrians routinely having to walk on the grass area, damaging it, and frequently having to walk in the mid in bad weather.

It has been like this for years but I am raising the issue now because the problem seems to be getting worse and I have recently seen users of wheelchairs finding it almost impossible to use the pathway and having to struggle on the grass.

Please could the council cut back all shrubbery to the path boundary and notify the property owners that they must not impinge on the footpath.
