Mud on road causing flood - Watton Road, Datchworth

Reported via Android anonymously at 17:52, Wednesday 4 February 2026

Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8839831.

As per attached diagram there is water from fields running down Watton Road towards the low spot where the pond is which is bringing tons of mud. This in turn is collecting in the pond and completely blocking the land drain (ditch) opposite, therefore causing an almost permanent flood. This flood is serious and has at times caused cars to break down in the middle. Other motorists cause problems turning round in the road to go another way, as they think the water is impassible. Several times the ditch has been cleared but it doesn't sort it. The water coming from higher needs redirecting. The road is becoming narrow outside (Oaks Croft) 5 Watton Road. There is at some points 18+ inches of mud built up. Please could this be dug away. We could get a community team together but there is too much to dispose of and its too dangerous. This is a very busy well used road - please, please could you address these issues.
