Action scheduled
Disintegrating road surface along both lanes by BP Services by Roundabout
Reported via desktop in the Pothole category by Barbara Leonard at 12:02, Sunday 1 February 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8812814.
Multiple 'chasms' have opened in the last couple of months along both sides of a while now. At night these wholes are not visible due to bad lighting. Should a motorcyclist hit any one of these he's toast. Hit a large hole in the road almost 4ft long, and 4-10cm deep. Result, punctured tyre and possible further damage to wheel. Tyreshop opens Monday at 08.30. We were not the only ones last night that had a puncture, at the filling station an elderly lady was waiting for AA. Her front rhs tyre was flat, with damage to the rims as well. AA man could not remove the tyre with any of his equipment so they had to be towed.

I had the misfortune to drive through this same pothole at 8:30pm yesterday, 31 January, in the dark and rain. At the very least, my front nearside tyre was shredded and there may be damage to my rear tyre which I can't see. Making an appointment with the garage to have the car inspected and at the very least replace the fronts - axle pair. When taking the photos this morning for my compensation claim, another driver had just parked up with another burst nearside front - the same cause.

The last picture shows the tear in my nearside tyre. I'll need the car to be inspected to check for any other damage.

These potholes have still not been actioned!! I destroyed two tyres in these potholes on 31 Jan and reported them here on 1 Feb. I took these photos on 11 Feb and there's no sign of any repairs. I can also report there is still no sign of action on 14 Feb. What is the council doing? Nothing, this is completely unacceptable given there will by now have been dozens of motorists who have had tyre damage and worst in this location. I will writing to my local councillor and MP to try to get something done - who is accountable for this lack of action?
