Request for a safe pedestrian crossing (e.g. pelican crossing) on Thyrop Road near the rugby club

Reported via mobile in the Highway Schemes category by Greg Mikolap at 09:28, Saturday 31 January 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8806487.

There is currently no safe pedestrian crossing point on this stretch of road near the rugby club. The road is regularly crossed by a high number of people, including dog walkers, users of Powerhouse Gym, allotment holders, rugby players, families, and spectators attending matches and events.

Traffic speeds are often high, visibility is limited at certain times, and pedestrians are forced to cross at unmarked points, which feels unsafe—particularly during busy periods, evenings, and weekends. This issue has been ongoing for a long time and is becoming increasingly concerning as usage of the surrounding facilities continues to grow.

A pelican crossing or another suitable pedestrian crossing solution would significantly improve safety, reduce the risk of accidents, and better support the local community’s use of these facilities.

  • Hi there, could you confirm if TTC are proposing a pedestrian crossing here please?? Or are there any updates?? It is essential, as more people are using this road to cross over and the amount of cars speeding from one side of the roundabout to the other.
