Parking damage to grass verges
Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 19:33, Wed 17 August 2016
Sent to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 880476.
These two morons always park on the grass and have caused serious damage to the area. You can park about ten vehicles along this stretch of road but only these two use the grass and have made a hole deep enough that ordinary cars couldn't park like it if they wanted or they would ground out on the kerb stone. The HCC have denied it's their responsibility so who's is it.

Good luck! Parking is B&DBC's responsibility, but they always say they can't do anything unless there are double yellow lines. The only exception is where there ARE double yellow lines, then they say something else.

No one will do anything about it, the council say they don't enforce this sort of problem, only if there are restrictions will they bother. They use all sorts to wriggle out of responsibility, It's not a written law banning parking on footpaths or verges but it is to drive on them. Common sense would say that if you cannot drive on them then it must follow you can't park on them. The stupid brigade that we vote for cannot use common sense though and so the problem continues.

Had a reply with proof from the HCC that the area in question is the property and responsibility of BDBC. Got in touch with them again as did the Gazette to be told that they will not enforce such things, seems like it's open season to destroy paths and verges and they don't give a damn. I thought part of our council tax went towards the upkeep of such things. Even my local councillor wont have anything to do with it, yet like all others will proudly boast about getting a bit of graffiti removed or having some bushes trimmed.
