West Northamptonshire Council is committed to maintaining safe and reliable roads, but it isn’t possible to repair every pothole immediately. The council must prioritise repairs based on available budget, workforce capacity, and the need to address the most safety critical defects first. All decisions are guided by the Highway Inspection Manual, which sets out how road defects are assessed and the timescales for repair. This ensures that resources are used responsibly and that the highest risk issues, such as those posing a danger to road users, are dealt with as quickly as possible while lower risk defects are scheduled appropriately within the limits of available funding.Posted by West Northamptonshire Council at 14:27, Thursday 2 April 2026
