Restaurant constantly obstructing narrow pavement

Reported via desktop in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 23:07, Thursday 22 January 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8747853.

Deli Nene constantly obstruct the narrow pavement with their signs, barriers and chairs. Pedestrians often have to wait, or step into the road, to pass. Bromley Council have said that they do not own the pavement and cannot control this obstruction - this is not accepted. I have often asked Deli Nene to be fair to pedestrians and not obstruct the pavement but they continue. Currently, while they are renovating their premises, it is a great relief to be able to walk past unobstructed. Will you PLEASE take this opportunity to require them ALWAYS to LEAVE AT LEAST 50% OF THE PAVEMENT UNOBSTRUCTED for the use and passage of pedestrians. Their neighbours, Fee and Brown, do NOT obstruct the narrow pavement so please require Deli Nene not to exceed Fee & Brown's practice. Thank you.

  • Deli Nene hold a valid pavement licence that allows them to place tables, chairs and signs on the highway outside of their business. As long as there is 1.80 metre clearance on the pavement then the conditions of their licence are being met.

  • I don't think 1.8 metres is enough for all the pedestrian traffic here so I would ask Bromley Council to investigate the terms of the licence - and investigate whether Deli Nene actually leave 1.8 metres clear.
