The manhole cover is collapsing

This manhole is on the A415 Witney Road and is starting to collapse “again”. Every time a car / lorry drives over it, more damage is done and the cover bounces making a loud noise that can be heard inside the surrounding houses.

If this is not prepared soon I worry that the manhole cover will collapse into the hole damaging the system and causing an accident.

  • The carriageway has collapsed alongside the manhole cover. 70mm hole in Witney Road, Kingston Bagpuize.

  • This collapsed man hole cover has still not repaired and the repair was actioned at the end of January !! What is frustrating is that you had a road repair team in Kingston Bagpuize for two consecutive nights to repair further along the A415 but couldn’t organise them to repair this at the same time . The lack of efficiency of the council is unbelievable !! In the mean time the damage is getting worst and will probably result in it costing the council more as the damage is going to be harder to repair !

  • This manhole cover collapse has STILL not been fixed . This was originally reported on the 21st January which is unacceptable ! It should not take 3 months to action the repair . The collapse and damage is continuing to get worse . It is on a very busy road A415 with a huge number of large Lorries passing over . It is so short sighted as eventually this repair will cost the council a lot more . Would appreciate an update asap .

  • Thank you for your report. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the full repair due to difficulties accessing the area of concern. A permanent repair is already scheduled and will be carried out once access is resolved. There’s no need to submit an additional report, as the follow-up works are already logged in our system.
