Opposite 376/378 Depression across lane

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 17:46, Tuesday 20 January 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8727282.

I would like to report a continuous issue with the road surface on Woodstock Road, Oxford, directly opposite nn 376 and 378.

There is a long subsidence in the road running across almost the full width of the lane. It appears to be a settlement of the ground beneath the asphalt rather than a single pothole. The depression is visually noticeable and I estimate it to be approximately 4-6 cm deep in places.

The condition has noticeably worsened since last summer! We would be happy to share the photos that period.

When buses and heavy vehicles pass over this section at speed, it causes strong vibrations, which can be felt and heard inside nearby houses. The shaking is significant and happens repeatedly throughout from early morning to late night , particularly with large vehicles and buses.

Although it may not look like a typical pothole, the length and depth of the subsidence make it a serious structural issue, affecting road safety, cyclists, cars the surrounding residential properties. The problem has worsen since last summer.

Please could this section of road be inspected and repaired as soon as possible.
