Very narrow temporary footpath due to roadworks

Reported via desktop in the Problem with BCC highway works undertaken category anonymously at 10:54, Tuesday 20 January 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bristol City Council 6 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 8726710.

The temporary footpath created during the ongoing roadworks on the Portway is unnecessarily narrow, as it is shared by pedestrians, runners and cyclists at the same time. The inside fencing surrounding the roadworks could easily be moved in a few feet in to provide a reasonable width allowing users to easier pass each other. It is particularly ironic as, as far as I understand, the works on the Portway are to enable a better separation of the pavement users!
