Light sequence out of sync

  • Thank you for your report. The timings of the traffic signals at the Longwall Street/High Street junction were adjusted shortly before Christmas to create a short gap in the traffic heading east towards the Plain roundabout. This was to help traffic exiting St Clements onto The Plain which was still being delayed even after the congestion charging scheme was introduced. It was possible to do this because the congestion charge had significantly reduced delays in Longwall Street (southbound). We are continuing to monitor the impact of this adjustment although early indications show that delays for traffic heading towards The Plain roundabout have been reduced which has helped the large number of bus services that use that stretch to be quicker and more reliable.
