Misuse of traffic sign

Reported via mobile in the Road traffic signs category by Aman rathore at 01:48, Sunday 18 January 2026

Sent to Luton Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8711349.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to report an ongoing issue involving misuse of council property and obstruction of the public highway outside the following address:

54 Beverley Road, Maidenhall, Luton, LU4 8EU

The residents of this property do not have a dropped kerb outside their house. Despite this, they regularly place household bins and traffic cones outside their property to prevent other residents from parking on the public road. This area is part of the public highway and is not designated for private use.

Furthermore, roadworks are currently taking place nearby, and a council/roadworks “No Parking” sign was placed in the area. The residents of 54 Beverley Road have removed this sign from its original location and placed it directly outside their property to stop vehicles from parking there. I believe this sign is council property and is being misused for personal benefit.

I have taken photographs as evidence, which clearly show: - No dropped kerb outside the property - Bins and cones deliberately placed to obstruct parking - A council “No Parking” sign being used outside a private address

This behaviour is causing inconvenience to other residents and appears to be an unlawful obstruction of the highway, as well as misuse of council assets.

I kindly request that this matter be investigated and appropriate action taken.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Yours faithfully,
