This pothole was repaired this month and it’s back already!!
Reported via iOS in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 08:54, Friday 16 January 2026
Sent to West Northamptonshire Council 15 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 8699223.
This pothole was ‘repaired’ earlier this month and the new surface has broken up already. The hole is already 3-4” deep! I reported this pot hole and asked why this pothole keeps reappearing year after year. I asked, but did not get a reply, why the repairs along this section of road keep coming back. It seems to me that your contractors are just patching over the holes but the base/foundations/substrate is damaged. Please insist that the substrate is properly repaired/replaced. This is our taxes paying for this work! It seems to me like cheap jobs/repairs are being undertaken that will surely cost the council more in the long term, resulting in more damage being sustained by road user’s cars.

On the 20/01/26 at approximately 07:30 a.m. I was driving on the Welford road (A5199) I was on the left hand side. The pot hole was unmarked, the visibility was poor and there was traffic on the other side of the road. I hit the pot hole, damaging my car. I had all three of my children in the car and my youngest 8 year old was scared by the incident. My car has sustained damage to its suspension and the wheel. I will forward the invoice for cost of repairs, once they are completed, it is estimated to be in the region of £440. I had to spend hours in the garage while I awaited my elderly parents to pick me up and both my children at senior school were unable to attend as I had no way to get them in. I believe the road is in a very dangerous condition and am also concerned that this could pose a risk to other road users. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise me the next steps in the claim process. I look forward to your response.

If this is the same one driving from Creaton towards Guilsborough going towards the dog parlour it is horrendous. It’s deep and very very dangerous. These and the opposite ones need fixing immediately. 21/1/26

I cannot understand why they just do a few repaairs and not look at the bigger picture and do ALL in the area instead of going backwards and forwards ll the time , wasting time travelling

There still seems to be a collection of potholes on the A5199 which have been neglected by highway workers, they had closed off a section of the road to fix one pothole, within 20ft of that pothole was another however that was ignored and still remains unrepaired. Quite disappointed at the lack of common sense our council have when filling/ fixing potholes when standing within close proximity of another pothole without repairing. We still have 3 craters on the road which is causing significant damage to vehicles, which eventually will or if not have caused a significant accident due to swerving onto the opposite carriageway.
3 potholes still remain on the A5199 which are of a great depth and of a large size. Which can be found from Creaton to Guilsborough.
Approximate locations of potholes. Pothole 1 - ///brushing.cascaded.briefer Pothole 2- ///regaining.thumps.stubbed Pothole 3- ///selects.thankful.detriment
If possible whilst down that road if you see another pothole please can this be filled….
Thank you

I can see that it meets a priority 3 repeat… unfortunately this is not good enough… vehicles are being seriously damaged at the cost of the councils utter lack of common sense. It’s appalling.
The potholes remain present despite this report now being over 1 month old. The initial response advised a 5-day timeframe, which has not been met. I am concerned that continued inaction may constitute negligence, as vehicles are now being damaged. Please provide an update, as the potholes are worsening and becoming deeper and wider
