Poorly sequenced traffic lights at junction

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 20:34, Thursday 15 January 2026

Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8697401.

Heading away from Reading town centre, the traffic lights at the junction by the Sportsman pub are very poorly sequenced. The traffic lights in this direction only stay green for approximately 5 seconds, allowing only 2 - 3 cars through at a time. This is causing huge tailbacks and causing motorists to become frustrated and take risks. I.e jumping the lights. This is further complicated when there is a bus in the bus stop. Of note, there are no noticeable queues in either of the other directions. I have witnessed several near misses this week, especially with food delivery mopeds going to the local food outlets and jumping the lights. Today at 6pm, it took me over 30 minutes to get through the lights. Please can someone review the sequencing of these lights as a matter or urgency. It has been noticeably bad this week. Many thanks.
