Danger to pedestrians and children
Reported via desktop in the Pothole category by Anna Cecilia Walsh at 11:59, Thursday 15 January 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8693344.
Oppositie Barn End house, Pond Hill, Stonesfield.....
To my mind this pothole has only become dangerous in the last week or so, although it is clear it has been patched up in the past.
It is beside a designated pedestrian walkway (see photos) where the road only allows one car to pass in either direction at a time.
My worry is that a driver will swerve to avoid the pothole, especially if driving at high speed and could hit an oncoming pedestrian. It is an accident waiting to happen.....It is dangerous enough as it is without the pothole and is used by parents taking their children to school in the dark winter mornings and nights.
Please give it your immediate attention. Thank you.

Please see my initial report of 15th January 2026....
The status of this pothole(s) has remained 'Action Scheduled' for the last 12 WEEKS....despite the fact that a pothole (see photo) was filled, in Longore, the next door road only THE WEEK after my report of it
As you can see it is hardly the hazard that the potholes on Pond HIll (by Barn End cottage) present. There was ample for cars to drive around it.
THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH THE POTHOLES ON POND HILL WHICH ARE RIGHT NEXT THE PEDESTRIAN 'WALKWAY' THAT WODC (?) or OCC (?) HAS MARKED ON THE ROAD, TO WARN PEDESTRIANS THAT THE ROAD IS VERY NARROW......
This suggests to me that WODC or OCC already recognises the road as dangerous for pedestrians. The potholes are only making it even more of an 'accident possibly waiting to happen', possibly involving school children and parents who use the walkway on a daily basis.
This is the 6TH separate report to WODC about potential danger to life as a result of these potholes.
PLEASE MEND THEM STRAIGHT AWAY, not just say 'Actioned Scheduled'.
I could suggest WODC needs a complete overhall of its road mending strategy if potholes such as this on Pond Hill are ignored for so long, (or at least someone needs to learn to read a map.....) but that is not the purpose of FixMyStreet......
Thank you for giving it your immediate attention for the sake for the children of Stonesfield.......
