This road is now on a diversion route and increased traffic, including hgv’s, is aggravating the problem.

This hole is completely hidden and is capable of badly damging tyres and wheels. It is now on a diversion route and will kill many cars as it is almost impossible to avoid. More than one hole to fix here as well.

The road is absolutely destroyed here

With the water level low you can see the damage to the road and how deep the “potholes” are. The damage to the road surface is extensive and the road surface is littered with stones and broken tarmac. Really needs a total repair and resurfacing.

Twice in the last week there have been cars stopped at the roadside with wheels destroyed by these holes.

I would be grateful for an update on the proposed works that were to commence today for a period of 3 days. The contractors turned up this morning but have removed the road closure signs and left the location. The road is now breaking up on the other side of the largest single pot hole. Did the contractors under estimate the works required? Or had they not actually surveyed the site before today? It is unacceptable that drivers are suffering serious tyre damage especially when the pot holes are full of water and cannot be seen! Would it not be sensible to accept that this road is in such an awful state that some sort of temporary signage is required to warn drivers or is this not done because the council are then accepting the responsibility and liable for more claims!

Another car seen sitting with burst tyres today just up from pot holes towards Fernham, over 1 month since originally reported

I understand the contractors were working on this road for Airband and not to repair the road. Apologies on this misunderstanding. However this does not distract from the issue. Another vehicle today and so far I can now count over 8 vehicles sustaining tyre damage. Only last week I helped an elderly couple to change their wheel in the dark while it was very cold and wet. Totally unacceptable

Hard agree with the comments here. This road is in a dangerous condition on both sides of the bridge.

Unbelievably, 2 of the holes are being filled with tarred gravel straight from back of vehicle into the hole this afternoon, no burner just straight from flat bed lose into hole.
Vehicle arrived around 17:30 to shovel in some stone directly into puddle, saw they had a machine to flatten but when I spoke to them they were not going to do the big holes (farm side of little bridge) which you cannot escape as holes are both sides of road. Don’t think they will be there for more than 15-30 minutes.
