Multiple large potholes A5199

Reported via iOS in the Potholes / Highway Condition category by G McGlasson at 08:51, Monday 12 January 2026

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8669713.

There are a vast amount of large, deep potholes across the A5199, on both sides of the carriage way. Of which all of the a were reported last year by myself, despite that they’ve not lasted 12 months which is appalling. These are going to take vehicles off the road.

There are about 4 large holes on the carriage way from Guilsborough > Creaton scattered across the road just from the lay-by on the left hand side. These potholes reform every year and we have the same issue where motorists are driving along and then swerving at last minute onto the opposite carriageway, not only is this going to cause a significant head on crash but if you’re not a local and you aren’t aware of these potholes in the dark they will rip your tyre apart and potentially cause loss of control to a vehicle.

Then just opposite from that lay-by there is another pot hole on the corner which is reforming from a repair which was only done about 6 months ago (if that) which took about 5 cars off the road. Albeit it isn’t as bad, it’s only going to get worse and due to its positioning on a blind bend it’s also going to cause a great crash/ accident.

  • Another vehicle has just hit this in daylight with goid visibility, and burst their tyre. Thank goodness they kept control of their vehicle.
