Dying Ash tree.

Unfortunately this tree has been dying now for many years and is getting worse. I have had it confirmed that it has Ash dieback and now has a worrying crack on one of the large branches which is in the very popular community orchard area of the park. In strong winds I regularly have large sticks, small branches falling into my garden which can be quite worrying. Many years ago I had a very large branch fall into my fence which had to be removed. This is very unfortunate however this is only going to get worse and might result in something more serious.

Thank you for your enquiry and apologies for the delayed response to this. It is unfortunately the wrong time of year to inspect trees for ADB, the best time being late spring when the trees break bud and come into leaf when a full assessment can be made based upon the percentage of live canopy remaining which will determine whether further works are required Inspecting in Winter when in their dormant state can lead to misinterpretation of results. The tree has been added to our ongoing ADB monitoring programme and will be inspected late spring and appropriate action based upon the results of that inspection.
