St georges field stockwell avenue knaresborough. Park gate dangerous
Reported in the Parks and playgrounds category anonymously at 01:24, Tue 19 July 2016
Sent to Harrogate Borough Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 862227.
This is my 6 year old sons head. We visited the park at stockwell community centre and he opened the gate to come out of the park and it swung back and caused this very deep large split to his head. Not only does the spring have a very fast return but also the ground isnt level where the gate is, its built on a camber therefore the gate swings alot quicker, also made from very heavy metal hasnt helped. He wasnt mis-using the equipment, he simple opened the gate therefore i believe some investigation is required to look into the speed and heavyness of the spring back mechanism fixed to this gate.

What a shocking injury, and a terrible thing to happen to anyone, let alone a 6 year old. I really hope your boy is better very soon. Can I strongly suggest you go back there and take some photos, and ideally a video of the fault with this gate, then seek some kind of legal assistance in pursuing the council for damages as it sounds as if they have been negligent. Your lad deserves some kind of compensation for what has happened to him. I wish you both well. Lee
