Poor drainage leads to dangerous vehicular aquaplaning
Reported via iOS in the Drainage category anonymously at 16:38, Wed 31 December 2025
Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8611161.
Water from Kingslclere Road runs a long distance along the verges southbound towards Whitchurch. The water crosses and floods the junction of the Harroway Rd and then flows further until it then traverses Newbury Rd between Sheepcrook and the railway line over to the west side of the carriageway. Water drainage on the East side of Newbury Road and on the West side is not well maintained. Drainage grates are clogged, the drainage verge channel is overgrown with mud and needs cleaning and the drainage scoop outs on the west side of Newbury need clearing.

Drains and gulley, still need cleaning. Unfortunately, the lack of action on this has resulted in the road / tarmac breaking up over the winter months. The cost of repairs will now undoubtedly be far more costly than the preventative approach or it will lead to even more potholes and damage to vehicles.
