Sequence of road traffic lights is wrong

Reported via mobile in the Road traffic signs category by James McKinlay at 13:28, Sun 21 December 2025

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8576973.

The timing sequence of the traffic control lights is seriously wrong when coming from Maryhill Road onto St George’s Road heading towards Charing Cross. No more than 3-4 cars can turn right here due to backed up traffic, because of the traffic lights changing to RED under the slip Road above, as the Maryhill Rd lights give priority to turn onto St George’s Rd? This then creates a serious blocking of traffic at St George’s Cross junction, preventing any at this 4 way junction to move and peoples anger is showing between the drivers. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT.

Updates

  • Since reporting this concern, there has been one accident involving two cars which took out one of the traffic light poles. Since then, there has been numerous irate drivers blasting horns and gesturing at other drivers stuck at this crossing because of the wrongly timed sequence of lights. Another accident waiting to happen. !!!
