While driving on a country road near postcode NN12 8EQ on 16 December 2025 at 7pm, the vehicle encountered a long stretch of severely uneven and damaged road surface. The defect was extensive, unavoidable, and not marked with any warning signs or hazard indicators. Passing over this damaged section caused a significant impact, which immediately triggered a warning alert on the vehicle’s dashboard. The road condition has caused suspected mechanical damage, and the vehicle is currently awaiting inspection.

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8559331.

The issue arose because the road surface is poorly maintained, with long-standing damage and unevenness that creates a safety hazard for road users. There were no warning signs, temporary hazard markers, or road markings to alert drivers to the dangerous condition. As a result, the defect was not visible in time to avoid it safely.

This lack of maintenance and absence of warnings means the road does not meet the expected safety standard. Drivers are exposed to sudden, unavoidable impacts that can cause vehicle damage and potentially put occupants at risk. In this case, the unsafe road condition directly led to damage to the vehicle and triggered a dashboard warning.
