Leaves blocking drains

Reported via mobile in the Street cleaning category anonymously at 14:26, Fri 12 December 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Cheltenham Borough Council 2 days, 18 hours, 13 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 8539432.

The permitted parking spaces have become very muddy due to the recent wet weather and fallen leaves. The leaves are now wet and compacted, making the ground slippery and messy. This creates a hazard for pedestrians as well as drivers, increasing the risk of slips and falls. Some of the leaves are also blocking drains, which could make the mud and water buildup worse if not cleared.

Clearing the leaves and addressing the mud would help make the parking spaces safer and prevent further drainage problems.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
