Approx 3 x 3 ft, upto 4 inches deep pothole. Surrounding tarmac crumbling.

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 11:27, Thu 11 December 2025

Sent to Hampshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8533381.

This is a recurring pothole which was fixed earlier (and indeed for several years running) but is back again and developing quickly into a deep and dangerous pothole. It is located on the entrance to the Church and difficult to avoid when cars are parked alongside the fence. With all the recent rain, it's impossible to spot until you hit it. We have now placed a yraffic cone from the Church in the hole as you will see on the photos. The access is used daily by residents, a nursery, visitors and parishioners of the Church a number of whom are elderly and infirm. Can the council please try and effect a pernament fix which should save money. With all the temporary repairs that have been done, all of which have failed inside a year, this must be costing more than a proper long-lasting repair.

  • Getting a lot worse in the 2 months it's been reported. The council has acknowledged receipt and confirmed action will be taken but that was nearly 2 months ago now.

  • The hole has become a lot larger since the initial report, see photographs. Today we have filled the original pothole with 6 bags of gravel but that has not completely sorted the problem. We have also left heavy-duty matting on top of the gravel edges to mitigate the situation. The surrounding (private) land is being damaged due to the lack of repair of the highway. PLEASE attend to the situation soonest.
