Intrusive step on footpath

Reported via desktop anonymously at 12:35, Wed 10 December 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8528507.

Ast evening a passer-by our house tripped on a step which partly overlaps the pavement to our house and fell heavily. Fortunately, no bones were broken.

We have lived in the house for two years It was built in 1969 for the local vet built on a piece of land which belonged to the original manor house, now 27 Church Green. The stone wall and the small entrance gate are much older than the house and the gateway and step may have been a side entrance off the lane to the land before it was sold to the vet. It may be that that the pavement was built around it when the lane was developed for housing. It is clearly a trip hazard and we feel it needs urgent attention. If necessary, it could be removed altogether and the gate closed off.

We have placed a traffic cone on it as a temporary warning and enclose a photo to illustrate the problem.

We should be most grateful if you can give it urgent attention to avoid further accidents.

With thanks
