Trafic light sequence is timed wrong

Reported via Android in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 09:59, Wed 10 December 2025

Sent to Leicester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8527256.

The sequence and timing of the traffic lights at the junction of Blackbird Road and Fosse Road seems to be incorrect, in that the junction is often gridlocked as lights turn green before the junction has cleared. This means for a complete cycle, one of the roads feeding the junction or leading away from the junction has no traffic moving through the junction.

This is exacerbated by people ignoring the 7ft yellow signs, and the 5ft white arrows on the road stating that the furthest two lanes go to the A50 while the closest ONLY goes straight on to fosse road (from Blackbird road), and trying to go straight over and cut in, often blocking the junction for right turning traffic.

This entire junction is badly thought out, and would have worked much better as a large island with a straight through road for the A50 from town to Glenfield.
