Pedestrian Green Man does not last long enough

Reported via mobile in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category anonymously at 15:02, Sat 6 December 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8510294.

The Green man on this crossing does not last Longer than half of the crossing time. I use a mobility scooter and at times a walking stick. this is a very busy junction. It is scary not knowing if the lights are about to change when part way across. Especially as the refuge at the midway point is not large enough to provide safety from moving traffic when on a mobility scooter, or for multiple people. This is a particularly busy and chaotic junction.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report. The Green man is the invitation to start to cross and not the time allocated to complete the crossing. At this location the green man time is 7 seconds and is then followed by a clearance period of 14 seconds, before conflicting vehicles receive a green signal. We have checked and both timings align with current guidance.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
