Dangerous for pedestrians crossing Worplesdon Road at Stoughton Road interchange because Northboubd signals are insufficient/ignored

Reported via mobile in the Poor operation or delays category anonymously at 19:19, Tuesday 2 December 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Surrey County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8493718.

The issue has been present for several months. The traffic lights at the Worplesdon Road/Stoughton Road interchange are insufficient and dangerous for passengers trying to cross. When driving northwards on Worplesdon road there is a green light to turn right which is green first, while the Red light remains for the straight ahead traffic. It is then that further ahead on Worplesdon road, on the other side of Stoughton road, the pedestrian light to cross is Green. Cars take the right filter being green as a sign that straight ahead is green too, and proceed, often at speed, while people are trying to cross. This is exacerbated when it is dark and pedestrians cannot be seen/signal to cars. The signage needs to be improved for the traffic, or the Green for pedestrians needs to be re-timed to when no traffic is able to flow. Considering there is a school just down the road, this needs to be reviewed quickly before someone has an accident.
