Investigating
Dangerous junction
Reported via mobile in the Road Markings category anonymously at 19:48, Wed 19 November 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8441294.
Driving from Oxford business park towards the retail park, drivers do not know which lane they must be in for the retail park. Seriously it’s not difficult yet you always have to watch drivers in the wrong lane moving into the one for Tesco. Maybe add flashing lights or something

I've reported this before (ref. ENQ241014069) and it was closed originally. This is the response from Oxfordshire County council on 15 August 2024:
"the road markings are correct as the traffic wanting to access the retail park the lane sequence is Travelling Southbound is Lane 2 with the straight on arrow then under the flyover to be in Lane 2 with the right turn arrow Retail Park and after the flyover use Lane 2 retail park"
So the council think it is correct, when turning right on this roundabout, to start off in a lane with a straight on arrow, then stay in the same lane until it becomes a right turn arrow! And to not follow the road markings and lanes on the roundabout as appropriate! The lanes on the roundabout show that to go to Tesco from Cowley, be in the right lane and then to follow the lane into the middle under the flyover. Middle lane goes straight on towards Garsington Road. LH Lane turns right onto the bypass.
I reported this again (with pictures this time quite clearly showing the road markings) as that response is absolute nonsense and goes to show the incompetence of traffic management by OCC especially around East Oxford. Ref ENQ241014244
It was the closed again with this response on 5th Sept 2024
"the current road markings at this location will be assessed and altered if considered necessary as part of the Oxford City Maintenance Road Marking Programme"
So in other words, they will not touch it! It has already been deemed unnecessary! Would it be too much hardship to have markings on the road on the approach to the roundabout showing which lane to be in for the superstore. Such a simple fix! But it appears that OCC are too stubborn to see that there is a problem!
Please look at the report Ref ENQ241014244 where there are clear images of the issue. This should also show how poor the original response to this issue was.

Correction, LH lane turns LEFT onto bypass!! Not Right!
LH lane goes left onto bypass towards Headington. Middle goes straight on to Garsington Road. RH lane goes to Tesco or onto bypass towards Littlemore.
