A pothole in road problem

Good Evening.
The main road through Cowley to Elkstone (near the Green Dragon) is currently closed for resurfacing. Whilst a diversion has been put in place it’s is not actually able to deal with the traffic. The diversion is sending traffic from both sides of the closure along a narrow single track. Not only is this riddled with pot holes it does not allow for vehicles to pass in both directions. On two occasions today, this morning and later this evening, traffic became gridlocked as the diversion route cannot handle two way traffic. There are no wider sections to allow passing of vehicles going in opposite ways. Vehicles were backed up unable to move forward or backwards, with tensions getting high. I think Glos Highways need to reassess the diversion as it is totally inappropriate, dangerous and impractical.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
