Trip hazard , pavement uneven

Reported via desktop in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 15:36, Sun 16 November 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8426473.

The tree roots have once again caused the pavement slabs to raise in parts, making it a trip hazard for pedestrians. The tree is totally out of control. The house by the tree drive is raised in parts , again because of the roots. The tree has a preservation order on it. I believe it is the responsibility of the estate people but despite asking them to control it they have not. The needles drop all over the pavement both sides of the road making it slippery. The tree has got much too tall cutting out light to houses opposite. Even when branches were cut earlier this year ( because buses were catching them) the tree cutters said the tree needs attention and reduction.

  • The pavement still has uneven paving due to the roots from this tree. Given the latest snowfall this makes it very much a trip hazard for pedestrians. Also the tree is out of control as tree surgeons told me earlier this year. I know it is not the responsibility of the council but the local housing association but they are not controlling the tree . As you can see due to the enormity of it, it is preventing any sun thawing pavements and driveways which again is hazardous. I also know there is a preservation order on it, but surely common sense must prevail in a situation such as this. Public safety should come first. Can I ask you to please take this up with the Crofton Estates people as they are doing nothing about it. The pavement will continue to have issues if nothing gets done.
