Ongoing Neglect of Elmfield Avenue and Elmfield Street

I’ve been reporting the same issue for two years now, and it’s clear that giving more time won’t change anything. As shown in the attached photos, the street has been in poor condition since at least 2009 — something that can easily be verified through Google Maps imagery — although it’s very likely it has been this way for even longer. Sixteen years is quite unacceptable.
Last year, after numerous complaints on this platform (more than ten), a small section of the street was finally repaired. However, both Elmfield Avenue and Elmfield Street remain in a severe state of neglect. There are potholes throughout, growing larger each time, and in this year’s 2025 photo — next to the maroon car — you can clearly see that the ground is sinking, creating a large puddle every time it rains.
The pavements are also in very poor condition: cracked, uneven, and full of holes. I intend to continue reporting these issues regularly until appropriate maintenance work is carried out. Sixteen years without proper repairs is more than enough.

Thank you for reporting a pothole.
First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.
A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.
If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.
In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.
An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
