Flood drain seems to be blocked or up to capacity

Reported via desktop in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 15:53, Monday 10 November 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8399952.

The council and highways are fully aware of the issues with this flood drain and it's inability to now cope with run off water and drainage. After the rain today, the flood drain is already blocked and water is unable to enter and is lying on the road and flowing down the village. There has not been a bad storm - this is normal rain and it is unable to cope.

It is evident that the current capacity of this flood drain is unable to cope with the additional run off being directed towards it and needs to be enhanced to cope.

This needs to be urgently unblocked.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
