Missing "Except Cycles" on No Entry sign into Aberdeen Road from Cotham Hill

Reported via desktop in the Road signage category anonymously at 18:14, Sun 9 November 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8395633.

Aberdeen road (on the section between Hampton Road and Cotham Hill) is one-way for motor traffic westbound, with contraflow cycling permitted eastbound.

This is correctly marked at the junction with Hampton Road, with signage and a painted contraflow lane stub. There are cycle symbols painted on the road, oriented for eastbound cycling.

However, at the junction with Cotham Hill, eastbound traffic is met with a no entry sign. There is no sign indicating an exception for cycles. I would expect to see a SP71_954.4 "Except cycles" sign but this appears to be missing.

To get from this junction to the eastern end of Aberdeen Road, cyclists must divert north on Cotham Hill, using the contra flow, then turn right onto Abbotsford Road, then turn right onto Hampton Road instead. Not only does this increase distance and route complexity, it also diverts cyclists to the junction of Cotham Hill and Abbotsford Road which is often very busy with pedestrians.

This issue has been present since the road was made one-way with contraflow cycling.
