Dying silver birch on verge next to [phone?] cables, pathway & A417
Reported via mobile in the Report a tree problem category anonymously at 17:40, Sunday 9 November 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8395549.
We have seen the health of the silver birch beyond our garden wall, on the N side of the A417, deteriorating over recent years. The top half of the tree bore no leaves during the summer & one branch has already broken off & is hanging from other branches (marked in red on photo from our house). We fear it may fall across cables, road or pedestrians. Photos taken 18 Sept.

Thank you for using Fix My Street. I have assessed the location of the trees. The trees are on land not deemed to be part of the highway maintainable at public expense and therefore, Oxfordshire County Council do not have responsibility for the trees as local highway authority. I believe the tree may be the responsibility of the Vale of White Horse District Council and therefore you should contact them directly to pursue this enquiry further. I will visit the site to assess the risk that the trees pose to the highway.
