Buses cutting corners

Reported via desktop in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 09:20, Fri 7 November 2025

Sent to Reading Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8387698.

Buses persistently cut the corner turning from Valpy St on the the The Forbury. This is particularly dangerous for cyclists turning right. A cyclist or moped rider naturally adopts the road position at the apex of the painted road markings. This puts at risk within the turning arc of the large buses.

Thanks.

It is quite scary for my young son even if the bus drivers are quite friendly to young bike riders.

Updates

  • The council are unable to repaint lines to create safer vehicle positions in the winter as the paint doesn’t stick. Need to resource road painting during better weather.
