Non existent traffic management

Reported via mobile in the Poor repairs (reinstatement) category by Carrie Foster at 17:54, Mon 3 November 2025 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8372004.

To Whom It May Concern at Stroud District Council,

I am writing on behalf of residents in the Hunts Grove community to raise urgent concerns regarding the severe traffic congestion when exiting the estate toward the A38. The ongoing roadworks and construction associated with the A38 improvements have created a daily bottleneck that is no longer sustainable or safe.

Residents are routinely experiencing queues of up to 45 minutes to travel less than half a mile. This situation has significant consequences: • Children are not being picked up from school or childcare on time • Workers are consistently arriving late to their employment • Roundabouts and junctions are being blocked, creating further gridlock and conflict between drivers • Emergency access, school transport, and essential public services are increasingly at risk

Despite the scale of disruption, there appears to be no visible traffic management in place to regulate or assist with flow during peak hours. The result is chaos, frustration, pollution from idling vehicles, and growing safety concerns for pedestrians and cyclists.

We understand that the A38 construction is necessary and ongoing, but this level of disruption cannot continue without intervention. We strongly urge the council to implement temporary traffic management measures — such as traffic control personnel, phased lights, proper signage, or monitored flow priorities — until the A38 works are fully completed.

Hunts Grove is a rapidly growing community, and current access conditions are simply not fit for purpose. We ask that the Council escalate this issue urgently and provide residents with a clear plan and timeline for improvements.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. We look forward to your swift response.
